Tomeishi (stopping stone), gift wrapped

Tomeishi (stopping stone), gift wrapped
Tomeishi (stopping stone) are traditionally used in Japanese tea gardens to gently signify that a particular pathway within the garden is closed. To help visitors find their way to the tea ceremony.
These hand thrown ceramic spheres were glazed using Danish wild clay and made into tomeishi by wrapping them with cordage dyed with black tea.
The gift wrapped tomeishi is wrapped in a raw cotton cloth, which can be reused as a tea towel.
